When I told my mom that I was going to outsource my bookkeeping, she said, “But Lisa, you can do the bookkeeping yourself!” I just assumed that since I owned a party rental business, I shouldn’t be wearing the accounting hat anymore. She was skeptical of my response, leading me down a path to learning how to be my own bookkeeper. My research quickly got my accounting geekiness flowing again, and I found that my desire for numbers was more potent than my desire for parties (I am an introvert, after all).
I started feeling a strong pull to start my own bookkeeping business, and once I found my business coach, Katie Ferro, I embraced my love of Accounting with a new passion and purpose. Bookkeeping felt like the obvious next step to me, and it still does.
Selling my first business was emotional, but it was the right thing to do.
